The Monochrome Trend for Autumn/Winter 2013

Monochrome

First, let's be clear about the term "monochrome'". The Oxford dictionary, which I trust, describes "monochrome" as  "black and white or in varying tones of only one colour". This really means that an outfit in a variety of shades of blue can also be described as monochrome.

However, in the world of fashion, this angle to the word monochrome seems to have dissolved and the fashion junkies, fashion monkeys and fashion addicts now use "monochrome" as a descriptive term for a range of tones in-between and inclusive of black and white.

For the sake of this article, let's refer to monochrome as black and white and shades of grey.

Chinese born, London based designer, Patrick Li, was very keen in exploring the contrasting tones of black and white in his simple, crisp and youthful collection.

Ones To Watch - Anna October, Vauxhall Fashion Scout, London Fashion Week

While Anna October has a more diverse range of colours - metallic colours splashed against blocks of blacks, she did not overlook the monochrome trend. Anna October featured outfits in black and metallic white - aka silver ;)
